Sr scribe Anil Anand elected Secy Gen of PCI | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
New Delhi, Jan 23: Senior journalist and a columnist, Anil Anand has been elected as Secretary General, Press Club of India during the annual election held here on Sunday. He was a vice-president in the outgoing team. Anand secured 75 per cent of the total votes polled, leaving his rivals far behind. Out of over 1100 votes polled he secured 664 while his nearest rival could muster 277 votes. He has been working in Delhi since 1987 during which he represented prestigious newspapers likeNational Herald, Hindustan Times and DNA. Presently Delhi Bureau chief of a J&K newspaper, he had started his career with Kashmir Times before shifting to Delhi Veteran journalist T R Ramachandaran has been re-elected as the President for the successive term. Arun Kesari (UNI Varta) was elected as vice-president while Ms Mohua Chatterjee (Times of India) has been elected as the Joint Secretary. The Ram-Anand panel also swept through the poll to elect 16 managing committee members as it bagged 15 out of the 16 slots. |
