Mehbooba demands probe in PDP leader's death | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 23 : Opposition Peoples Democratic Party Monday condemned the assassination of its Chrar-e-Sharief vice-president, Nazir Ahmed Dar, who had been missing from the last three days from his home while returning from his daily business in Chadoora.In a statement, PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti said that the assassination of Dar is a cold blooded act that is beyond condemnation and called for a high level investigation so as to ascertain the circumstances and causes as to what led the disappearance and subsequent murder of the deceased. She said that the act only highlights the underlining paranoia of those unscrupulous elements who are threatened by peaceful and democratic set-up of the party. Mehbooba also lashed out on alleged negligence of police who she claimed are equally responsible for the incident as they chose to doze, while as they should have been tracing the Nazir who had been missing for the past three days. "If police had carried out its act on the time, an innocent life could have been saved," she claimed.Calling for thorough and high level investigation into the murder, Mehbooba said that an in-depth investigation should be held so as to bring to light facts and those perpetrators who are behind Nazir Ahmed's assassination.While offering sympathies to the bereaved family, the PDP president termed the loss as unfortunate and offered condolences to the family who are in a state of shock. Former Legislative Council Chairman and senior PDP leader, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Youth General Secretary Nazir Ahmed Yatoo also condemned the murder of Dar. |
