| CBI court awards one year RI `10,000 fine to EE-NR | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 24: The Special CBI Court at Jammu convicted the then Executive Engineer(EE), Northern Railway (NR) Jammu and awarded him one year rigorous Imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000/- from one local contractor in April 2005.
A spokesperson said that CBI following a complaint received from one Gurvinder Singh son of Raghuvir Singh resident of Nanak Nagar Jammu alleging that the Executive Engineer, Northern Railway A K Sanyal is demanding graft from him accordingly FIR vide No 5(A)/2005 U/s 161 RPC was registered against the accused.
The CBI after registering a case laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while accepting illegal gratification of Rs.20000/- from Gurvinder Singh.
A chargesheet was filled in the court of Special Judge, Anti Corruption, Jammu in September 2005 and after completion of trial accused has been convicted by BL Bhat, Special Judge Anti Corruption, CBI Cases, J&K, Jammu. The accused has accordingly been lodged in the District Jail, Jammu.
Meanwhile in another case, Jatinder Singh Jamwal, CJM Jammu convicted accused Sukhdev Singh, Prop. M/s Chand Allied Traders, Kullian R.S Pura in case FIR No 13(A)/1999, CBI Jammu involving illegal sale of petrol/diesel.
