JK govt proposes hike in relief amount for Kashmiri migrants | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 24: The Jammu and Kashmir government has submitted a proposal to the Centre for increase of relief amount for Kashmiri migrants in the state. "The state government has submitted a proposal to the Centre in this regard (hike in relief amount for Kashmiri migrants) for necessary approval," Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation minister Raman Bhalla said at a function here. Bhalla said a proposal is under consideration for providing loan to unemployed youths of the community so that they can earn their livelihood by establishing self-employment units under agriculture and horticulture sectors. Maintaining that the government is keen on the safe return of the Kashmiri migrants to the Valley, he said the Centre has sanctioned a Rs 1618.40 crore in this regard and various steps have been taken for its implementation. The minister said all Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir have been directed to remove encroachments from migrant properties and deal with culprits strictly. He said the government has asked JK Bank and Post Office authorities for establishment of their branches at Jagti Township. The government has also earmarked land for construction of Panch Mandir, Maa Durga temple and Shiv temple in the vicinity of the township, he said. |
