Taj-Vakil tussle hots up on corruption remarks | Taj 'threatens' of defamation case, seeks apology | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 24: In what can turn out to be a political tussle between two senior leaders of Congress on account of factionalism within the state unit of Congress, Minister for PHE Irrigation and Flood control Taj Mohiuddin has asked former minister Abdul Ghani Vakil to apologise for what Taj terms as 'irresponsible' comments made against the Minister or else face defamation suit. Taj Mohiuddin , it is learnt has dashed a letter to Abdul Gani Vakil asking him to prove the allegations or apologise for whatever he stated the other day with regard to functioning of the some departments. Vakil, a senior leader in the hierarchy of state functionaries however said he has not received any such 'letter' loaded with these 'directions' from the minister. "I cannot comment on anything which I have not received....I do not know what should be basis of such a letter on what he (the minister) is prompted to write one. All I can say that I as a political leader have certainly demanded enquiry into working of some departments…. I think that is what any politician has privilege to ask", Vakil said while speaking to ET. On the other hand as per an agency news report, Taj has spewed venom, terming the allegations of corruption leveled by Vakil as baseless. Taj has also asked him to 'be ready to face defamation in court of Law'. Taj while reacting sharply to Vakil's statement Tuesday dared Vakeel to prove the allegations or face the defamation for maligning his (Taj's) person. Sources said Taj in his letter has asked Vakeel to prove the allegations within week's time or face defamation. |
