Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 25: In what could be described as Police top brass "ignoring" violation of set norms being made by none other than most of the Men in Khaakhi, tinted glasses fitted private vehicles ply on roads here in the winter capital without any check.
Reliable sources in police department disclosed that "though police department is busy these days to remove Z Black sheets and tinted glasses from the vehicles having no permission from the Security wing of the state police but the similar type of vehicles owned by police officers plying on various city roads are not being stopped."
"These vehicles are quite visible even during the day time ferrying the wards of the police officers. Furthermore, most of the time in the evening hours even the wards of the police officers are seen going for ride, ironically, police personnel standing on the checking points prefer to avoid such movement," revealed sources further adding that "out of such private vehicles, most of them have not sought any permission from the Security wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police."
Besides that, even number of police officers posted as in-charge SHOs and in-charge Police Posts are openly violating the norms and directions of the senior police officers by using private vehicles fitted with tinted glasses.
Sources further informed that "on one side, Jammu police are busy in removing tinted glasses from the private vehicles while on the side, they themselves are using such type of vehicles giving wrong message to the commoners. Even the newly passed out Sub-Inspectors initiating their probationer periods here could be seen driving four vehicles like Santro, I-10 and Alto cars fitted with Black sheets on the window panes."
When ET Correspondent, posing as a common man, spoke to one of the Probationer Sub Inspectors (PSIs) over the issue, he just quipped, "Who is going to ask us. We are police. Even if, any officer is in civil, an Identity Card is enough to receive a salute from the police personnel deployed on the checking points."
An eyewitness, while pleading anonymity shared, "As I had no permission to use tinted glasses, the same were removed from the window panes of my vehicle. But to my utter surprise, the police officer who was supervising the removal of Black sheets from number of vehicles was sitting in a four vehicle having Z Black sheets fitted on the window panes. I could not ask him as I knew it I will have to face the music…..!"
