Social, trade organisations, Mohalla Committees celebrate Republic Day with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Jan 26: Like other parts of the country, the 63rd Republic Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm and charm by various trade and social organisations, Mohalla Committees, NGOs and Trade Unions throughout the Jammu region today.

POWERGRID Northern Region Transmission System -II celebrated 63rd Republic Day with gaiety & enthusiasm. Flag hoisting and cultural programmes were organized at all its establishments. in the region. At its Regional Headquarters, Grid Bhawan, Jammu. Shri S.C. Singh, Executive Director, NRTS -II, was the Chief Guest. He unfurled the flag.in presence of Senior officials including Shri S.K. Sharma, GM (Projects), Smt. Meena Sharma President Shrishti Mahila Samiti, employees, their families and children .At its Ludhiana Substation Jagmohan Sharma, General Manager (O&M) unfurled the National flag .
In connection with observance of Republic Day, the president of Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Y V Sharma unfurled the National Flag at Chamber Office Rail Head Complex here today. Speaking on the occasion he highlighted the achievements made by the country and expressed the hope that country will again assume pivotal position in the world community.
A function was organised at Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) on Republic Day here today by the organisation in which a large number of people took part. Former Minister and DSS president, Gulchain Singh Charak, hoisted the National Flag on the occasion. He, while highlighting the significance of Republic Day also congratulated the people on the occasion.
National Secular Forum (NSF) celebrated the Day under the chairmanship of its president Vikas Sharma at its headquarters here today. Besides hoisting the National Flag, he highlighted the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Others present included Sunny Bakshi, Ankush Sharma, Sanjay Imran and Jasbeer Singh.
PHE Workers Welfare Association celebrated the Republic Day at PHE City Sub Division, Dounthly. The function was held under the presidentship of Bakshi Singh provincial president of the Association. Chief Engineer, PHE, Daleep Bakshi who was the chief guest on the occasion hoisted
Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) unit of PHE Water Works Employees Association organised a function at Pumping Station Company Bagh in which the Chief Engineer, PHE, BR Dogra hoisted the National Flag. Shiv Kumar Sharma, president, INTUC, J&K congratulated the people on the occasion.
National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) in collaboration with traders of Maha Laxmi Temple, Pacca Danga celebrated the Republic Day as Sankalap Diwas. A function was held at Pacca Danga, Chowk here in which NMC chief, Subash Shastri, hoisted the National Flag.
Swarnkar Sangh Jammu City celebrated 63rd Republic Day. On the occasion Krishan Lal Abrol (President) and Naveen Nischal (General Secretary) Swarankar Sangh Jammu Province unfurled national Tri-Colour Flag as Chief Guest at Chowk Chabutra Jain Bazar Jammu. Raj Kumar Nischal (General Secretary) SSJC organized and held a main function at Chowk Chabutra, Jammu. On the occasion, sweets among general public were distributed.
The 63rd Republic Day function was held today at Maharaja Hari Singh Community Park, Karan Nagar, Jammu in which the residents of Karan Nagar Ext. participated with zeal and zest.
The National Flag was hoisted by H C Katoch, President of the Association on this occasion. Other prominent members present in the celebrations were Prof BK Sawhney, H S Raina (Retd) Power Development Commissioner and BK Kotwal (Retd.) Chief Engineer. The national anthem was sung by children.
Rural Women Foundation (RWF) celebrated 63rd Republic day at Purani Mandi Jammu with traditional fervour. Ashwani Pradhan was the chief guest on the occasion. National Flag was unfurled by the President Sunita Sharma.
Republic Day was celebrated in District jail Kathua by the staff and jail inmates. The national flag was hoisted by Bahadur Singh superintendent distt jail Kathua within the jail premises. The jail staff and CRPF personnel were also present at this occasion. A culture programme was also organized on the occasion wherein jail inmates as well as staff took part enthusiastically. The sweets were distributed among the jail staff and jail inmates.
Celebrating the 63rd Republic Day, the Tricolour was unfurled by Javed Zaffer Ahmed (Ex- Corporator) at Jullaka Mohalla of Ward No 2 ( Jammu East Constituency Jammu) .
Garden Avenue welfare society today celebrated the 63rd republic day with fervour in DBN school premises. Former deputy chief minister and senior congress leader Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion who unfurled the tricolour in presence of large gathering present there. Leela Karan Sharma advocate and the president of the society highlighted the achievement of the society and urged the residents to cooperate with the members of the society. Dr. Renu Nanda department of the education Jammu university who is also a resident of the society threw light on the importance of the republic day. Later lunch was served among the residents of the society.
Congratulating all the residents on the occasion of Republic day, he also conveyed a message of peace and brotherhood on this occasion. Sweets were also distributed among the children.

An impressive cultural programme was presented by the children of the colony and invited Artists. Children spoke on the topic- "Cleanliness for better community health". Momentous were presented to the participating children and best volunteer of the colony for their outstanding contribution for the cause of community living.
