Unfurling of National Flag, cultural items mark R-Day celebrations across Jammu province

JAMMU, Jan 26: The 61st Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm at all the district Headquarters, tehsils and blocks of the Jammu Province.
The 63rd Republic day was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervour across Kathua district. The main function was held at Sports Stadium, Kathua where Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the parade comprising contingents drawn from Police, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, Police Training School, Kathua, NCC and Tiny Platoons from various Government/ Private schools .
While congratulating the people on 63rd Republic Day, Deputy Chief Minister said recalled the supreme sacrifices of great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chander Bose, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. He said it is due to their endeavours that country men are living in free and independent nation.
Tara Chand specially remembered the Founder of Indian constitution Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar who framed the constitution for the largest democracy of the world founded on the principals of social, economic and political justice.
Among others, MP, Doda-Udhampur Constituency, Ch. Lal Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Zahida Parveen Khan, SSP, Kathua, J.L Sharma, District Officers, Prominent citizens and large number of people and students were present on the occasion.
The students of various Government/ Private Institutions presented a colourful programme depicting national themes.
At Basohli, MLA, Jagdish Raj Sapolia hoisted the National flag at a tehsil Level function organized at Ramlila ground Basohli and took salute at the march past. Colourful cultural programme and patriotic songs enthralled the people present.
At Bani, MLA Bani, Sh Lal Chand hoisted the National tricolour at Government Girls High School, Bani and took salute. Colorful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion by the school children.
At Hiranagar, MLA, Durga Dass unfurled the National flag at Mini Stadium, Hiranagar and took salute from the march past. Colourful cultural programme and skits on patriotic theme were presented on the occasion by the school children.
At Billawar, SDM, Jatinder Kumar Singh hoisted the National flag at Tehsil level function at Government HSS, Billawar and took salute from the march-past. Colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
The 63rd Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm at Ramban, the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla unfurled the tri-colour at Government Higher Secondary School, Ramban and took salute at the March past by the contingents of CRPF, JKP, IRP, NCC, Forest Protection Force and different schools.
Thousands of people, besides civil and police administration attended the function. The school children and local artists presented colourful variety programmes on the occasion which were appreciated by the audience.
Addressing the gathering, Bhalla recalled the sacrifices of the great leaders including Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and others for securing Independence for the great Indian Nation. He said that they sacrificed their lives for nation to free people from foreign yoke. He conveyed his special greetings to the para-military forces, guarding the frontiers and also rendering remarkable assistance during natural calamities. The Minister paid homage to the personnel of security forces including Army, Central and State Police who offered supreme sacrifice of their precious lives to safeguard the frontiers of the country and fighting against the militancy in the State.
Minister for Sports, Medical & Technical Education R.S Chib unfurled the tricolour at Poonch.
Addressing the gathering, Chib said that the state Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken revolutionary steps to involve people in development process adding that for the purpose the government, after successful conduct of Panchayat elections, was making every effort to establish full-fledged three tier Panchayati Raj System in the state.
He said the government has already given control of 14 departments to Panchyats functioning in Rural areas. "Panchyats will chalk out development Plans and execute them according to their urgent requirements. Besides, steps are underway to provide funds directly to them by the Govt" he added.
He also mentioned to Public Service Guarantee Act and described the same as revolutionary legislation to make the government functionaries accountable to the public.
At Doda, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma hoisted the tricolour and took salute at the march past comprising the contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKAP, FPF, NCC and school children.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister reminded the people about the supreme sacrifices offered by freedom fighters for independence and also recalled the great contribution of the national leaders for framing and enforcing the Constitution of India.
A colourful cultural programme, including patriotic songs and skits, was presented on the occasion by various school children. The main attraction of the cultural programme was Dhaku Dance, which is a folk Bhaderwahi dance, presented by Information Department, Doda, which mesmerized the audience present on the occasion.
Similar functions were also held at Tehsil Bhaderwah, Thathri and Gandoh.
At Reasi, Minister of State for Power, Shabir Khan hoisted the national flag and took salute at the parade, comprising the contingents of JKP, JKAP, Forest Protection Force, NCC cadets and school children.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Madan Lal Sharma hoisted National flag at Government Higher Secondary School Pallanwalla.
Children of various schools participated in the march past and a colorful cultural programme was presented on the occasion. Sharma distributed prizes and sweets among the children. A large number of Sarpanches panches and people from ten adjoining panchayats attended the function prominent among others present on the occasion include Vice chairman OBC Board Kuldeep Verma, Swarn Singh, all Sarpanches, Principal Higher Secondary School Pallanwala besides staff of various schools and children.
