| BJP takes serious exception to deletion of Dr Singh's name from list of invitees | | Hosting of at home at Raj Bhawan | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 26: The BJP has taken serious exception to the violation of norms and protocol by Raj Bhawan which has rejected the list of office bearers selected by the party to be part of dignitaries at Governor's home at Raj Bhawan this evening.
According to sources in response to the Governor's letter to submit the name of party office bearers to be the part of Governor's at home during the Republic Day function today, the BJP State president has submitted the name of 15 office bearers to Raj Bhawan a week back. The list among others included the name of party National executive member and J&K chief spokesperson of the party Dr Jitendra Singh. But the office received the invitation cards for all office bearers from Raj Bhawan barring Dr Jitendra Singh, sources added.
Sources said the party took a serious exception to the act of Raj Bhawan and termed it the violation of all norms and protocol. It said as per protocol Raj Bhawan could not reject the name of any office bearer from the list submitted by the party to Raj Bhawan and by doing so the Governor has violated standing norms as well as protocol.
Sources said taking a serious note of it BJP secretary has dashed a letter to Raj Bhawan showing the party's displeasure over the action but despite that the Raj Bhawan did not send any offer for Dr Singh to participate in the at home programme to be hosted by Governor at Raj Bhawan this evening.
Sources said even some BJP leaders had asked the party leadership to boycott the programme in protest. Even the party leaders at Delhi have also taken a strong note of it and termed the action of Raj Bhawan total violation of standing norms. The State leaders who took up the issue with party high command yesterday have shown their total disagreement with the action of Raj Bhawan. Some of the leaders were of the opinion that rejection of the name of Dr Singh was an insult to National Party which was not acceptable at any cost.
Sources said that some of the party senior functionaries have advised the State party chief to boycott the function in protest. They said that this way the party has been insulted as per protocol the Raj Bhawan can't delete the name of party office bearers at its own. Moreover deleting the name of Dr Singh who is a respected citizen and a nationalist by core has hurt the sentiments of partymen also who hardly believe that such an action would have been done by Raj Bhawan.
Sources said that Dr Singh has a clean image and he always stood for the national cause and upholding the National unity and integrity. His write-ups have always encouraged nationalism and patriotism among the masses and by deleting his name from the list by Raj Bhawan was a serious matter and BJP has decided to launch a protest with Raj Bhawan at national level also.
The sources said the BJP as well as its sister organizations have also taken the serious note of the Raj Bhawan's action. This is for the first time in the history of the state when a name of a political leader from any nationalist party has been deleted by Raj Bhawan from the list of invitees for the at Home function hosted by State Governor, said a senior leader of social organization. |
