IAF airlifted 124 Marwah bound stranded passengers from Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Jan 27: Indian Air Force (IAF) on Friday airlifted 124 stranded passengers including 18 minors in MI-17 helicopter from Helipad Kishtwar to Marwah and Warwan area of Kishtwar District. The areas Marwah and Warwan remain cut off from the rest of the world due to heavy snowfall every year. The area has no road connectivity which compounds the problems of the apeople.. With the airlifting of 124 passengers today, IAF has so far airlifted 224 stranded passengers from Kishtwar in last three days. When contacted, Tehsildar Kishtwar Indeerjeet Singh Parihar said that 124 passengers were air lifted today by the IAF in four air sorties, 2 each for Marwah and Warwan. He said that with the airlifting of 124 passengers today, there are no stranded passengers of Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan in Kishtwar District as off now. He said that all those people who have applied for air service has been airlifted and said that once the administration will receive more requests in future, accordingly fresh requisition will be made to IAF authorities for air lifting of all those passengers. He said that government has already accorded sanction of 65 ton passenger load for the people of Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan area of Kishtwar District. |
