| Cong, BJP workers to learn campaign tricks in Punjab polls | | Getting ready for the 2008 assembly polls | | Jammu|January 16 Lending a helping hand to their respective party units in neighboring Punjab, going to polls in the month of February, the state unit of Congress and BJP have decided to send team of party workers and senior leaders for campaigning providing an opportunity to their cadre to shape up for the 2008 Assembly polls. Though the state unit of the congress party is still waiting for the green signal from the party high command or Punjab state unit but BJP has already chalked out a detailed programme for the forthcoming Assembly elections turning up as do or die battle for the BJP-Akali Dal alliance Vs Congress. Spokesman of the congress party Mr Ravinder Sharma said here today “we shall send our teams only after directions were received either from the AICC or from the Punjab Congress leadership.” He said besides Chief Minister,Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad several Congress Ministers from Jammu and Kashmir were ready to campaign in favour of the party candidates in Punjab. Mr Sharma disclosed that the Chief Minister may campaign in favour of the Congress in Uttranchal Pradesh and in this connection the Uttranchal Chief Minister,Mr N.D.Tiwari,has already requested Mr Azad for spending some days in his state for mustering support of the electorate in his favour. State BJP chief Ashok Khajuria is also preparing to send team of party workers to assist Punjab state unit in the campaign trial and booth management on the final day. It is learnt that state BJP Chief has been asked by the party highcommand to galvanise party workers from Kathua,Samba and Jammu for campaigning in nearby Assembly constituencies of Pathankote,DinaNagar, Sujanpur and and several others. A senior state BJP leader said that besides lending support for the BJP candidates the party leaders and workers would also visit constituencies where the Akali Dal(B) had fielded its candidates. State BJP Chief Ashok Khajuria said that the party Jathas are expected to leave for Punjab after January 25 and stay their till the campaigning ends. |
