Top Cops impose "verbal ban" on IOs - do not carry Pen Drives in Crime Branch office | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 27: Top police officers in Crime Branch wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police are learnt to have imposed "verbal ban" on carrying Pen Drives while entering the office premises. Though none of the senior officer concerned was available for comment, highly placed sources in police department confirmed that "verbal directions" have been passed by the senior police officers for not using or carrying Pen Drives while on duty at the office premises. "The directions have come in Crime Branch wing by Police Head Quarters (PHQs) following reports of leakage of important information from the Crime Branch and reaching the same to the influential persons accused in several cases pertaining to land," revealed reliable sources further adding that "even the important information collected against the senior police officers, who too are under scanner for their alleged involvement in several cases, have also been leaked out and provided to them." Unconfirmed reports indicated that the "verbal ban" has been made on the use and carrying of Pen Drives inside the office premises, following leakage of a sensational report last year, prepared by a senior officer of Crime Branch. Pertinent to mention here that a former police officer had alleged that his inquiry report into a fake encounter in which some civilians were killed and thrown into a River was buried by the government because he had exposed the role of senior Police Officer in the case.- Hide quoted text - Due to surfacing of such reports, the senior police officers are on tenterhooks and trying to establish those black sheep that are indulging in such activities. "Now every officer including Gazetted and Non Gazetted has come under doubt as so far no one has been detected as guilty," disclosed sources further adding that "the sensitive issue has also brought an adverse affect on the ongoing investigations in to several complaints pending with the Crime Branch wing." "See, there must some fool proof arrangement to detect any sort of leakage of official, secret as well as vital information against any civilian or officer. But doubting every officer in Crime Branch is not justified," pointed a police officer while speaking to ET on the condition of anonymity. The officer further shared that "how any investigating officer can perform his duty and come out with solving the case when he is being seen with doubtful eyes by none other than his own seniors. "Another police officer pleading anonymity questioned "will the ban on carrying or using Pen Drives stop the leakage problem. I think it cannot. If someone is indulging in such acts, he can just go through the important files and can pass the same to accused persons verbally, why he requires the downloading of each and every data." |
