Jammu city was founded by Ramachandra-I: SSRB | Faulty question paper leaves Naib Tehsildar aspirants confused | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 27: Besides irregularities in selection of candidates for appointment in government service, the SSRB has now been accused of distorting the history of the state. A question (No 74) in the question paper for Naib Tehsildar examination urged the candidates to write the name of the founder of Jammu City. The options given by the SSRB were 1. Hari Singh 2. Ranbir Singh 3. Udayan Dev 4. Ramachandra-I While primary school children know that the city of temples was founded by famous king, Jambhu Lochan, the answer key of the SSRB suggested that the right answer to the above question was Ramachandra-I. The city was named Jambu Nagar and with the passage of time the city came to be known as Jammu. Another question that left the examinees confused was about tenure of Maharaja HAri Singh. The options 1. 1925-1952 2. 1927-1947 3. 1925-1948 4. 1927-1952 History books and the official records reveal that Hari Singh ascended to the throne of Jammu and Kashmir in 1925 after the death of his uncle Sri Pratap Singh and he signed instrument of accession on October 26, 1947. According to the answer key of SSRB examination the correction answer is 1925-1952 2. What does SSRB want to convey? That despite India attaining freedom, the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir was still ruled by Hari Singh even after signing the instrument of accession. According to question no 99 the students were asked to reply the total area of Jammu is 11273 sq miles 10748 s miles 12723 s miles 11978 sq miles The question does not specify whether it was asked for Jammu district alone or Jammu division. the above options were incorrect. Another question was Dipetheria is caused by the bacterial infection of 1. Lungs 2. Heart 3. Nasal Passage 4. Throat SSRB key says Diptheria is caused by Heart. The medical experts strongly contest this claim. Other questions also left the examinees confused. However, notwithstanding the errors in the question paper, the topper secured 118/120 marks. How is it possible when the question paper was faulty? The examinees question. They have sought an explanation from the concerned. |
