JAMMU, Jan 28: Divisional Advisory Committee meeting on PC & Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique (PNDT) Act was held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal here today. The Divisional Advisory Committee on PNDT Act has been constituted by the Government for the better implementation of the Act by monitoring the functioning of various diagnostic centres and ultra sound clinics to curb illegal sex determination of the foetus. Threadbare discussion were held to remove the hampering in implementation of the PNDT Act aimed at curbing the menace of sex determination of the foetus and saving the Girl child and maintaining healthy gender balance in the society. Div Com stressed for strict action against the illegal ultra sound clinics functioning without proper registration. Div Com called on Divisional Advisory Committee members to conduct on the spot inspection of the ultra sound clinics and ensure that no ultra sound clinic is allowed to operate without proper registration under the PNDT Act and the registration will be valid for 3 years only. Div Com also laid stress on the importance of saving the Girl Child and asked for organizing the awareness programmes at the district, block and village level by using effective source of percolation of information to the public. The meeting was informed that in addition to State Health Department and State Health Society's websites, an independent website www. pcpndtjk.in has been launched. This websites, in addition to containing all the relevant information relating to PNDT ACT, Rules, regulation and activities enables on line filling of Form F by the owners of the ultrasound clinics and their retrieval at the District, Divisional and state level. |
