Dy CM reviews sewerage projects | Directs for meeting quality standard, time schedule | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 28 : Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand took detailed review of the progress of various ongoing sewerage and drainage works taken up by various line departments under prestigious flagship programme of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Home, Tourism and Revenue and Relief Nasir Aslam Wani was present during the meeting. Among other the meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Additional Secretary, H&UDD Saugat Biswas, Vice-Chairman, JMC S.C. Sahani, Chief Engineers PWD, PDD and UEED, SSP, Traffic Manmohan Singh, SSP, Jammu Parbhat Singh and other senior engineers and officers of NBCC and line departments were present during the meeting. Stressing on meeting time schedule, Tara Chand asked executing agencies to follow proper calendar for the execution of works, as maximum benefit can only be drawn if works are completed within the stipulated time frame. He cautioned the executing authorities against delays and called for strict adherence to the work schedules.Laying emphasis on maintaining quality, the Deputy Chief Minister called for random sampling to check quality standards while executing development works. The line departments as well as executing agencies should go for the third party inspections also, so that no loop holes are left while maintaining quality of the works, he added.Calling for synergy between various line departments, Tara Chand said effective execution of the prestigious projects is possible only when there is coordinated effort of all the concerned. He directed for on-site addressing of all the operational and technical aspects involved in the execution. Addressing the meeting, Nasir Aslam Wani called for speeding up pace of the undertaken projects so that the same can be commissioned at the earliest. He said mega-development projects have been taken up in the sector and the same would create durable assets for urbanites of the State. |
