Kashmiri Hindu Conference terms KP leaders meeting with CM as gimmick
1/29/2012 12:13:25 AM
Early Times REport
JAMMU, Jan 28: Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) has totally rejected the delegation of KP leaders which met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah recently and said that the delegation had not gone to see CM for passage of Shrines and Temples Bill in the ensuing session of State Assembly but to induct one of the leaders among the delegation as a Minister in State Cabinet.
The KHC in a statement issued here today said that if the delegation had gone to meet CM for passage of Shrines Bill then why it did not include a representative from Pandit Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust which has been entrusted the responsibility in this regard by the community and which has already launched a campaign in this regard.
The KHC which met here today under the chairmanship of M L Thusoo said conference discussed community issues both of short term range and long term nature. A news item captioned, Omar's cold shoulder response to Pandit delegation generates debate among KPS in a section of press was discussed.
It said the individual statement of some so called pandit leader ill-informed and unscrupulous wants to play a political gimmick by praising ex-chief minister of PDP. The fact remains that the Kashmiri Pandits well read, matured enough have never allowed anybody inside or outside to divide the community in the name of politics.
The motive of the said individual was to project one representative among the delegation as Kp community leader to be elevated to the post of the cabinet minister in the present Govt. This was the one point programme for meeting the chief minister. The pleading of formation of shrine board was assigned to the Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust of which no representative was in the party, it added.
The meeting said that Kashmiri Hindu Conference has time and again made its stand clear that it is not in favour of greater autonomy to the J&K state and not to talk of Azadi or accession to Pakistan. Since the majority community has rejected the Kp's and have never bothered to return to pluralistic society which provides for secularism, amity and mutual brotherhood. As such a single township for the rehabilitation and resettlement is the only solution for the present mass exodus of the community. The religious tolerance in Kashmir has diminished to the opitimum and a new socio religious environment is in the offing.
This kind of atmosphere is not congenial for the resettlement of the community, it added.
It said the stand of the community regarding the political parties is uniform, equal and respectable. The community has never affiliated it self to any particular political party. It is an individual affair and shall continue same in future as well.
The leaders who spoke in the meeting include shri M L thusoo, P L Koul Badgami, K L Ganjoo, M L Daftari, A K Sadhoo, S N Raina A k bhat M L Koul and G L Koul.
