Sham asks teachers to impart quality education, encourage co-curricular events | | | Early Times Report
AKHNOOR, Jan 29: Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today emphasized the teachers to impart quality education besides encouraging extra-curricular activities which is imperative for all-round development of the youth. Speaking at a function organized at Government Higher Secondary School, Chowki Chowra, in connection with the celebrations of 63rd Republic Day, the Minister asked the teachers to focus on quality education as well as extracurricular activities and nurture the students in such a way that they can compete at different job oriented fields. He said there is no dearth of talent in the rural youth, provided they are guided appropriately to accomplish the goals ahead. He asked the youth to imbibe the spirit of patriotism, national integration and mutual brotherhood, which are the strength of largest democracy in the world. He recalled the sacrifices of great freedom fighters, which liberated the Nation from the shackles of slavery from the British Rulers after a long struggle. He asked the youth to take inspiration from the contribution of our great forefathers and work for strengthening the bonds of democracy and fulfill the dreams of those martyrs. Paying rich tributes to the national heroes, he said India is largest democratic country in the world where secularism, socialism, amity and mutual brotherhood thrives despite being a multi lingual and multi religions country. The unity in diversity is the hallmark symbol of our rich ethos and composite culture that makes the country a unique in the world and need of the hour is to preserve these valuable assets. Now it is responsibility of the younger generation to carry forward the country towards new heights in different fields according to the modern trends and make it self reliant in several fields. He also highlighted several land mark decisions of the Coalition Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the past three years. He said with the holding of Panchayat elections and empowering the elected representatives a new vista of overall development of the rural areas has opened. The Government has made an earnest effort to give powers to the people at the grass root level to ensure development of the rural areas as per their requirements. The Government has also made several reforms in the administration to make the men and machinery more responsive and accountable to fulfill the aspirations of the people. The Public Service Guarantee Act is aimed at to ensure quality services to the people in a transparent and time bound manner. Similarly, the RTI Act has proved a milestone in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and people are accessible to any vital information. He asked the people to make judicious use of this law. |
