Two Lashkar workers arrested for grenade attack | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 29: Two Lashkar-e-Toiba workers were arrested for carrying out a grenade attack last year on an army convoy in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Zahoor Ahmed Lone and Shahnaz Ahmed Bhat, both residents of Palhallan village in Baramulla, were arrested for the grenade attack on November 23 on an army convoy at Pattan market, a police spokesman said. Two people were injured in the attack. The spokesman said a pistol, a magazine and two grenades were recovered from their possession. The two were acting as Over Ground Workers for Nisar Ahmed Magray, alais Shakti, a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, he said. The spokesman said a "startling revelation" surfaced during their questioning that the module had planned to target Maulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi when he had come to deliver a sermon in Andergam village near Pattan. However, their attempts in October 2011 were foiled by police. Dawoodi, who belongs to Barelvi sect, has survived an earlier attempt on his life in 2006.
