Rajouri DYC chief absconds after hitting a youth to death | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Jan 29: District Youth Congress Committee (DYC), Rajouri, president and advocate Imtiaz Ahmad has gone underground after a motorcyclist got killed and the latter's fiancee sustained severe wounds in an accident with his car here late Saturday night. In protest against the incident, people held a strong protest at Gujjar Mandi here and blocked vehicular traffic, alleging that the accused had deliberately hit the mobike as he wanted to marry the girl who was sitting on the pillion seat. The girl's marriage had, however, been fixed with Tahir Ahmad Khan, son of Mushtaq Khan, who was driving the motorcycle. The marriage was to be solemnised after a month, or so. Police sources said the car, which was being driven by Imtiaz, collided head-on with the motorcycle near Doodadhari Ashram here late last night. In the mishap, while Tahir died on the spot, the girl survived with critical injuries and was struggling for life at hospital, the sources added. The protesters demanded that a murder case be registered against the DYC president as he had allegedly caused the accident deliberately. Sources, however, said police were yet to find out if there was any truth in their allegation that the incident had occured as per a conspiracy. The accused was absconding and police were conducting raids in and around Rajouri town to apprehend him. |
