| BDSI felicitates physically challenged sportspersons | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 29: Board of Development for Sports in India (BDSI) organized a colourful socio-cultural program at Police auditorium to felicitate physically and mentally challenged sports players of the state.
Anil Gupta chairman Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) was the chief guest at the function. MLA Jammu West, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta was the special invitee and guest at the function.
The chief guest and JKDF Chairman, Anil Gupta while felicitating special sports children said that organizing a cultural program in their honor is a very spirit of the special children and this will certainly encourage them further. He lauded the role of the teachers support staff and parents in raising and providing special trainings to these children. He also distributed track suits among the special children.
MLA Jammu West Prof Chaman Lal Gupta also lauded the initiative taken by the BDSI in honoring special children and providing them with sport gears. Gupta presented a life time achievement award to Sat Paul Grover a renowned personally and social activist, for his outstanding record in social services and collective cause of people.
Earlier the programme started with lighting of traditional lamp by Chief Guest Anil Gupta along with Director BDSI Amit Sethi which was followed by the national song Vandematram. Director BDSI Amit Sethi in his address said that the purpose of organization the event is to the honour and encourage the spirit of these children who despite their disability have shown a great enthusiasm towards different sports.
Renowned rock bands Roving Sikhs and Super Solitude presented their performances in honor of special children. Besides that Dr Aman Sharma, Rajeev Sharma performed songs while Master Aadhar Kaul who has performed in Dance India Dance and Boogie Woogie also gave a dance number.
Mementoes were also presented to the sponsors and volunteers Ram Gupta, Sagar Gupta, Surinder Kumar Yadav for their active support. |
