Area specific Agri-Planning pivotal for Self-reliance: Rather | Pre-budget discussion | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 29 : Highlighting the primary significance of Agriculture in socio-economic emancipation of the State, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today vowed to make farming a viable, market driven and lucrative agri-business activity by introducing all the available modern agriculture technologies and innovations. Responding to various issues raised by the progressive farmers during Pre-Budget discussions at Jammu today, Rather called for diversification of agricultural in a big way adding that ensuring timely availability of quality Agriculture inputs and implements was vital for enhancing production and productivity. "It is the prime responsibility of the Government especially the agriculture department to provide timely quality inputs to the farmers", Mr. Rather added. He also urged for area specific agriculture planning for making J&K a self sufficient and self reliant State.Rather said that the process of Pre-Budget meetings with the progressive farmers exhibits Government intentions towards the welfare of farming community adding that the suggestions put forth would be considered favourably. He fully endorsed the demand regarding utilization of some portion of the Corporate Social Responsibility Funds (CSRF) for the development of Agriculture and uplift of farming community. He said Banks have also been asked to strictly adhere to the national bench marks for agriculture credit adding that "Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCC) is pivotal to provide hassle free and timely lending facilities to the farmers. " I have supported the demand for incentivisation of expenditure on fulfulling CSR at the recently held pre-budge meeting of the State Finance Ministers with the union Finance Minister adding that incentives should be provided on meeting CSR needs of the people living in backward areas".
