Jammu, Jan 29: In a virtual 'war' like situation that has put the state unit of Congress on fire, confusion today prevailed as to who sided with whom in Taj-Vakil tussle over the issue of corruption. While some leaders from both already defined factions 'grouped' together to voice concern over what they term as 'irresponsible behaviour' of Vakil in raising 'frivolous and false' allegations, a sizable number of senior leaders including some former ministers expressed solidarity with the former in raising voice against corrupt ministers. While one group demanded disciplinary action against Vakil for his alleged "nuisance" and what they chose to label as 'balcmailing tactcis' , the other group has demanded in the similar tone action against Taj for allegedly sheilding corrupt officials in the departments under him atrying to 'suppress' the voices that speak against corrupt practices.
A day after Vakil tension heightened over verbal duel between the two leaders, Sunday witnessed a flurry of activity in Jammu and Gandhi Nagar was the epicenter of these activities where on one side JK PCC chief Prof Soz is learnt to have met party colleagues at Institute of Engineers to discuss the current situation especially in the back drop of Vakil's charges of corruption against senior Congress Ministers. On the other side senior party colleagues held series of meeting at PHE Minister Taj Mohiudin's residence.
Sources said Prof Soz was apprised by party colleagues about the developments that have a strong bearing on the functioning of the Congress in the State. While a news agency claimed that This, they said that ten district presidents of Kashmir Valley in a statement while condemning the 'irresponsible' behavior of Vakil which was harming the party in the State. Sources also said that Union Miniter Ghulam Nabi Azad was apprised by senior Congress leaders and Ministers in coalition government about the developments within Congress.

Corporator Sumbal, Smt Namrata Sharma Corporator, Subhash Bhagat, Jugal Kishore Sharma (INTUC), Navin Nischal (Sevadal) and Irfan Naqeeb in their joint statement have condemned the statement of PHE and Irrigation minister against voices of corruption contending that he was issuing baseless statements to hide his 'failure.'
They statement said that the Congress party has started a mission to eradicate corruption from the system and Gani Vakil was trying to carry forward the same mission with zeal and enthusiasm. The Congress leaders regretted saying, "This is most unfortunate that a group whose, each member is involved in corrupt practices and having various cases pending against them in State Accountability Commission (SAC), different courts or CBI have joined hands to suppress and oppress voices against corruption", the statement added.
It further stated that the Congress was for exposing all those who are looting the tax payers' money and misleading masses for their petty gains. They said that such corrupt, incapable and crook people who are out there issuing fake and bogus statements in connivance with some tainted ministers need to be exposed. Their attempts to curb voices against corruption and corrupt, Congress leaders said will not be tolerated.
The Congress leaders in a meeting sought disciplinary action against PHE and Irrigation minster Taj Mohi-ud-Din for threatening their party colleague Abdul Gani Vakil, who they said had dared to raise the issues of corruption and made an attempt to bring revelations by newspapers into the notice of concerned minister. Gani Vakil, they said had tried to make aware minister incharge of malpractices going on in his department but instead of responding to party colleague's attempts to stop corruption, Taj Mohi-ud-Din preferred to threaten him twice and wash his dirty linen in public.
The Congress leaders in group supporting Vakil have urged the party high command to initiate the disciplinary action against Taj Mohi-ud-Din immediately as he has gone to the press, threatened of defamation instead of explaining his position to the party high command. They also urged the high command so sack the minister as his involvement in corruption land grabbing has damaged and tarnished the image of Congress party.
Such unabated and illegal practices by such tainted ministers they said had already caused enough damage to our party and if these things are not plugged here itself they will create further harm to Congress in Jammu and Kashmir State.
The Congress leaders while extending their full support to Gani Vakil said that a strong action should be initiated against all those who are misusing power for their personal gains and loot public money. People like Taj Mohi-ud-Din who are neck deep involved in various alleged corrupt practices and land grabbing should be sacked to save party's image.
