Hold early meetings of DDBs: Harsh | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 30: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) leader Harshdev Singh has urged upon the government to hold review meetings of various District Development Boards (DDBs) in conformity with prevalent conventions and practices and to review progress vis-à-vis the planned works. He regretted inordinate delay caused in the holding of review meets of various DDBs which ordinarily were completed by January but during current financial year even the dates had not been finalized for conducting the said exercise. He expressed dismay over cancellation of schedule of meetings of all 22 districts announced for January last. Urging upon the Chief Minister to personally take note of the issue, he demanded immediate initiation of process for such meetings as the same was required to be completed before the start of assembly session scheduled to commence in the third week of February. He said that holding of review meetings of DDBs was a regular feature introduced for effective supervision of development works for the last several years. He said that abandonment of the practice of Review meetings would convey very unpleasant and wrong signal not only to the general public and their representatives but also to the executing line departments. Harsh Dev Singh further pointed out that review meetings of DDBs were essential to review the performance and progress of various developmental schemes in the district sector, state sector, centrally sponsored schemes, PMRP besides others and to further make the officers accountable and responsible for omissions, lapses, if any, in the implementation process. |
