KATHUA, Jan 30: Environmental pollution has sent shivers down the spine of people living in newly developing industrial city of Kathua.
Environmental pollution has put lives of thousands of people at risk. Rapid industrial developments in Kathua have led to generation of huge quantities of hazardous wastes which have further aggravated the environmental problems in the town as well as in its surrounding areas. It is commonly seen that the poisonous effluent is flowing through residential areas. Most of the industrialists in district Kathua have failed to adhere to stringent environmental norms.
Expressing serious concerns over hazardous waste generated in Kathua industrial area, Ram Pal Sharma and Preeti said that the waste needs to be managed intelligently. They said that the industrial pollution affects the environment in many ways and is a major cause of concern. The large amount of the waste generated by the industries is leading to pollution of the resources like air, water, and land also at large extent.
