Security restrictions around Jammu airport pose hardships to air travelers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 30: Even after the completion of beating retreat ceremony strict security restrictions remain in place causing inconvenience to the general people here in the winter capital. Due to Republic day celebrations security was beefed up in and around Jammu city to prevent any militant strike aimed at disruption of Republic day ceremony. But even after the peaceful passage of the event the security forces instead of easing out restrictions on the movement of the common people continue to create road blocks for them. The security set up around Jammu airport, being sensitive in nature, is posing lot of hardships to common travelers for past several days due to a similar directive. According to the routine security drill the movement of passengers and their loved ones was being regulated and no visitor was allowed entry inside the airport lounge along with the air passengers to see them off. The orders, issued on account of Republic day celebrations, remain intact till January 30. Instead of taking lenient view of the common problems faced by passengers the security personnel especially officers of the state police were seen getting in to small tiffs with the passengers. Paying no attention towards the problems faced by the common people the Airport authorities too are behaving as mute spectators in the absence of adequate space to accommodate rush of passengers during peak hours. The security personnel instead of guiding outsiders, visitors and talking politely are often seen indulging in loose talk and misbehaving with visitors to allow smooth passage for VVIP's who are permitted to drive their vehicle inside the airport premises. The week long restrictions rendered some bitter experiences to Sanjeev Kumar a tourist from Banglore who said, "I had not expected the state policemen to behave irresponsibly with us but I felt bad when I approached them." "Instead of guiding me they shouted at me to make way for the VVIP movement," he added. |
