| BJP Mahila Morcha calls on Sakina Itoo | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 30: A 10 member delegation of BJP Mahila Morcha under the leadership of its state president Sakina Bano called on the Social Welfare Minister in her office chamber and took up a number of issues concerning the Welfare of womenfolk and highlighted sufferings of women, particularly the widows and old aged in the state. Sakina Bano also submitted a memorandum to the minister containing details as to how the women were made to suffer due to the callous attitude of the Social Welfare Department.
It was brought into the notice of the minister that in Jammu district only there are 17000 pending cases related to pension and other schemes.
The memorandum further mentioned indifferent response of the department to the cases pertaining to BPL category.
Sakina Bano also raised a number of other issues including delay in release of scholarships to the SC students and disruption in the decades old practice of giving sewing machines to the poor and needy women. |
