| MIER College Organizes Blood Donation Camp | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 30: The NSS Unit of MIER College of Education organized a voluntary blood donation camp to celebrate National Youth Day. In keeping with the theme of this year i.e. "Young Blood Donors are the Saviors of Lives", 24 NSS volunteers of B. Ed, B. Ed Spl. Edu. (MR)and M. Ed donated blood in the P.G. Department of Immunohematology & Blood Transfusion, Govt. Medical College Jammu. Vinod Kalra, NSS Programme Officer MIER motivated and encouraged the volunteers to participate in this noble cause with zeal and enthusiasm. He was able to organize the camp with the help of Alok Nanda, Deputy Divisional Warden, Civil Defence.
Before the commencement of blood donation, an awareness lecture on blood donation was given by Dr. Raman Kapoor, Professor and Head of the Department of Immunohematology & Blood Transfusion, GMC. She gave general information about essentials of blood donation and explained how useful the donated blood is at the time of emergency. She further added that this donated blood can be used to save lives of many people.
Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER blessed the NSS volunteers and appreciated the efforts of the unit which always commemorates all the important days with great fervor.
