GGHSS Mubarak Mandi celebrates annual day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 30: Minister for Education and Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, today emphasized the need for developing creative aptitude among the young scholars, side by side academics, so that their inherent capabilities can be explored in right perspective and utilized well for the development of the society. Speaking at the Annual Day cum Prize distribution function of Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Mubarak Mandi here, Peerzada, said that there was no dearth of talent among the students of the State adding that in the past couple of years the youth of Jammu and Kashmir have proved their worth at various National level competitive exams. The Minister said that the Government has launched a number of schemes including SSA and RMSA with a special focus on creation of required infrastructure in the schools. He said achieving the goal of universalization of education in the state was being pursued vigorously by extending the reach of primary, secondary and higher secondary education to far flung areas . He said the department was also focusing on the training of teachers adding that the same was being imparted by well qualified resource persons. He said teachers training aims at equipping the teachers with the new teaching methodology for imparting quality education effectively. The Minister said that the Government has opened a number of new and upgraded existing schools across the State adding that centre is providing liberal funding for the purpose but there was a need to use the same judiciously. Peerzada stressed for extracurricular activities in the schools and underscored the need for participation of students in games for their overall development. The Minister said that Rs.20 lakh have been released for repairs, renovation and construction of science laboratory in the school, while Rs.5 lakh were sanctioned this year for minor repair works of the school building He also said that Rs.1 crore have been released for construction of building for HSS, Bazar Qasabah. He further said that Rs.31.31 lakh has been sanctioned for construction of additional rooms under RMSA at the same school. MLA Jammu East Mr. Ashok Khajuria also spoke on the occasion. He congratulated the school management for good results in the last exams. He announced Rs.5 lakh for the development of the institution under his Constituency Development Fund. Director Education Mr Gulzar Ahmed Quershi also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the department. Earlier, the Principal of the Institution presented annual report listing the activities of the school, besides the performance of the students in various exams. Later, the dignitaries distributed prizes among the meritorious students. Earlier, the Minister released 12th edition of the School Magazine Sahitya-Sarita volume XII 2012. On the occasion, the students of the school presented a colorful cultural programme which included skits, Punjabi, Dogri songs and dance etc. |
