Father of nation Mahatma Gandhi remembered on his death anniversary

Jammu, Jan 30: Rich tributes were paid to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary by various social and political organisations today.
The Congress party observed the day by organizing several functions through out the State. The main function of the party was held at PCC HQ Shaheedi Chowk Jammu under the chairmanship of Senior Vice President PCC Dharam Pal Sharma and attended by senior functionaries of PCC and frontal organizations.
Veteran Congress leader and former MP G.M. Mir Poonchi, R.S. Chib-Minister for Medical Education, Khem Lata Wakhloo-chairperson Social Welfare Board, Hari Singh, S. Gurmukh Singh, G.N. Monga (all vice-presidents), Mula Ram, Lal Mohd. Sabir (former Ministers), general secretary & spokesperson Ravinder Sharma-MLC and S.R. Sudheer were the prominent who spoke on the occasion and paid tributes.
While paying tributes, the senior Congress leaders recalled the sacrifices and struggle of Mahatma Gandhi whose philosophy is more relevant in the present day World. Gandhi led the nation under the banner of Indian National Congress to attain freedom and he taught tolerance and respect to each other's faith and religion, as he had understood that secularism is strength of India.
The entire World draws lesson from the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, who gave the message of peace and non-violence to the mankind.
The senior Congress leaders said that Gandhi ji taught selfless service to the poor and needy and there is need to learn and follow the principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
Two minutes silence was also observed in the meeting in memory of Mahatma ji.
Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services & Sports R.S. Chib paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation at a simple but impressive function organized by the "Mahatma Gandhi Intellectual Society", Jammu Cantt at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk, Jammu to mark the 64th Death Anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi,.
The main organizers of this function was Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Chairman of the Mahatma Gandhi Intellectual Society- an NGO committed to the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and working for a very long time to spread the message of peace. A large number of political personalities from different walks of life attended the function and paid tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Chib while talking to media persons described Mahatma Gandhi an apostal of peace and the real Architect of Freedom Movement of India. Chib said that he led the "Freedom Movement by following the path of non violence, peace and truth". He said that Mahatma won freedom to the country with his unique ideology of non violence and presented the picture of that day poverty stricken India suppressed by the foreign rulers, before the world.
Chib said that it is the duty of every citizen of the country to remember "Mahatma Gandhi" on his death anniversary as a mark of respect to such a towering personality.
He also informed that Mahatma Gandhi has become an international figure and even the highest International Organization i.e. UN have recognized this fact and Gandhi Jayanti is being celebrated all over the world as International Day.
Others who visited the Gandhi Chowk to pay their homage to Mahatma Gandhi included Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, Member of Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma, Chairperson, Social Welfare Advisory Board, J&K Khemlata Wakhloo, Former Deputy Chief Minister Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, , Former Minister, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Senior PDP leader, S. Rangeel Singh and other prominent citizens of our State.
Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Chairman of the Mahatma Gandhi Intellectual Society thanked all those who came over there to pay respect to the tallest leader of the country.
Jammu & Kashmir People Democratic Party pay rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary at Kachi Chawni led by Vikram Singh, Girish Sharma, Pankaj Gupta, Sachin Sharma,Sonu Saini, Sonu Saini, Rajat Gupta, Sanjeev Kumar, Honey, Bhupinder, Sahil Sharma leaders of PDP.
PDP activists assembled at Kachi Chawni and prayed for the soul of Mahatma Gandhi. A two-minutes silence was observed in memory of the Father of the Nation.
Floral tributes were paid in the premises of Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur, Bantalab Jammu to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary by principal, staff and students of GMCEJ. A two minute silence prayer was also observed starting at 11 am.
Volunteers of NSS unit of GGM Science College Jammu gathered in the garden of the college campus and paid tribute to the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on 30th Jan. on his death anniversary.
This day is such disastrous day in Indian history on which such a great peace lover saint and great supporters of truth and non-violence was shot dead by Nathu Ram Godse. It was a great lose to whole nation.
Satinder Pal Singh (principal GGM Sc. College) with the staff members including Rajinder Singh (PO NSS), D S Manhas, Vinod Bakshi, S Bhan, Namarata etc were also present.
