Bhalla distributes relief cheques worth Rs 1.85 Cr | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 30 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla on Monday distributed relief cheques worth Rs 1.85 crores among the 7000 beneficiaries of 35 villagers at Bishnah today. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Government has accorded priority for providing relief to the people who suffered losses due to natural calamities across the State and assured that affected people would be fully compensated. He mentioned that recently snowfall in the State and previous year's flash floods in border areas of Bishnah have caused damage to the property and increased people sufferings and every effort would be made to mitigate their problems. The Minister said that by the disbursement of Rs 1.85 crore subsidies to the farmers, will boosting their moral so that they would purchase inputs and there would be better yields. The department of Revenue has been organizing such type of camps to facilitate the farmers for boosting their socio-economic conditions. He said all these relief measures are being provided to the farmers under Central assistance Scheme supported by the UPA. The minister said that long pending Land issues would also be settled and agricultural land should abstain from the commercial usage, he added. The Minister also visited many other areas of Jammu city to inspect all on-going development works. He laid foundation stone of irrigation tube-well in Jeewan Nagar for conduction of smooth irrigation in the area which would be costing Rs 21 lakh. He also attended the Mahatma Gandhi Martydom Day ceremony at Satwari Chowk. Earlier, after conducting inspection of under construction Park at Jeewan Nagar, he reached the fire victim's house namely Joginder pal S/o Nanak Chand at Digiana where he assured the fire victim to full assistance by the Government. |
