| Ex corporator concerned over unhygienic conditions | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 30: Ex-Corporator Ward No. 64, Jammu Municipality Sheela Handoo, has expressed her great concern about the insanitation and unhygienic conditions in ward No.64. She said that in this newly developed ward, which comprises of Roop Nagar, Durga Nagar, Swaran Vihar, Surya Vansi Nagar, Rajinder Nagar, Chinoor Masjid Mohalla, the requirement of Safai Karamchari is about forty to maintain proper sanitation. But the Jammu Municipality has assigned this job to contractor who utilizes the services of only eight to Ten safai karamchari and who are also ill equipped and proper tools like spades, brooms and trolleys are not provided to them and with the result there are huge heaps of garbage, dirt everywhere in the drains and lanes of this newly developed ward.
It is great irony that instead of listening to the grievances of the people living in this ward, the officers who have been assigned to supervise the sanitation misbehave with the people as the supervisor; William seems to be always in abdicated condition.
There is total misappropriation of funds and red tapism and nexus between the contractor and Municipal authorities. She said that has informed the concerned authorities many a time about nepotism, favoritism and bungling in the utilization of funds allotted to this ward.She requested the Municipal Commissioner, that ward No.64 being a newly developed ward, no sanction fee should be charged from the shopkeepers and general public till all facilities and amenities are provided to them to which they are entitled to.
Handoo appealed to the Municipal Commissioner, to start some new construction of lanes drains and roads in this ward as for the last two years no development work has been initiated in this ward. She said that people living in this ward suffer badly, due to lack of proper drainage system and the dirty water for the adjoining areas. Previous construction work was done in this area has not been upto the mark.She further requested to commissioner to start and to develop this park in Durga Nagar Sec-I so that people of this area could enjoy the benefits of the part. |
