Rejection of award by Agnishekhar can hardly make any difference for Omar, NC | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 30: The rejection of cultural Academy Award by Panun Kashmir convener and a well known scholar Dr Agnishekhar is not going to do anything good for him or his community which is leading an exiled life for last 22 years in Jammu and other parts of the country. Dr Agnishekhar has rejected the prestigious award on the plea that he will not accept it from Chief Minister who is the president of the academy unless and until he does not accept the genocide and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. The PK leader also accused the successive state governments of the present plight of displaced Pandits saying they all have failed to ameliorate the lot of the exiled people of his community and to do any thing better for them. But the Cultural Academy termed the decision of Dr Agnishekhar unfortunate saying that after the Academy invited book entries for the prestigious best book award competition it was Dr Agnishekhar himself who filed an application for consideration of his Hindi book for the award. The academy in its rejoinder also said that later following the due process and scrutiny by three independent experts, the Academy announced the award and he was conferred upon the honor. Dr Agnishekhar very proudly appeared on Doordarshan and expressed happiness on having been conferred upon the prestigious award, the handout added. The Academy also said if the Dr Agnishekahr had to refuse the award he should have not applied for the same. Under these circumstances it has become evident that the KP leader has tried to play politics with literary matters which he was not supposed to do. No doubt Dr Agnishekhar who has championed for a separate homeland for KPs within Valley in view of what he said the rejection of coexistence by majority community of Valley. But mingling literature to seek his political goal can not be justified and if the PK leader was not interested for such an award he was not supposed to apply for the same. Moreover for the NC particularly the present Chief Minister who has ignored the Kashmiri Pandits altogether Agnsiheakr's protest will hardly make any difference as the Party knows pundits being a microscopic minority community can't harm the party is it has no vote bank which can make any difference for the NC at hustings. With this notion in mind NC as well as Omar Abdullah has taken the community for granted and even accused the Pandits and not the separatists for their mass migration. Under these circumstances Dr Agnsiehkhar or his colleagues can't expect any fair play and justice from the Party or the CM who are working on a set agenda. In case the PK leader is really interested in doing anything good to his exiled community he should lose no time but work for a meaningful unity among the different factions of Panun Kashmir itself and then also bring all Pandit organizations on a joint platform to fight for the community cause unitedly. Till Dr Agnishekhar and his friends in Panun Kashmir don't understand this reality merely rejection of awards to seek publicity is neither going to help Panun Kashmir nor the displaced Pandits. Omar Abdullah has already targeted the KP leadership by saying that it is a divided community with uncountable leaders and recently he dismayed a KP delegation which was led by his own partymen with his utterances. |
