Shall Peerzada meet Saroori's Fate | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 30: Revelations that son of Education Minister Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed passed the matriculation examination in 2009 through unfair means in connivance with the BOSE officials has invited fresh debate as to whether Peerzada should meet the fate of G M Saroori who was sacked from the cabinet on identical charges but lesser in magnitude. It merits a mention here that son of education minister has resorted to use of unfair means during the conduct of 10th Annual Regular in 2009. The startling revelation that has brought to fore Peerzada Sayed allegedly in connivance with the senior BOSE officials managed to get his son qualify matriculation examination through "unfair means." It also merits a mention that the then Minister for Roads and Buildings G M Saroori lost his ministry on the charges of impersonation, the action was taken after the Congress high command had conveyed to Mr. Abdullah that Mr. Saroori no longer enjoyed the confidence of the party to be in the ministry. Pressure mounted on Mr. Saroori to resign soon after the name of his daughter figured in an impersonation scandal in a medical college in Jammu. Now when the allegations of using unfair means to get his son through by the Education Minister, fresh debate has started as to whether Peerzada Sayed should quit as minister on moral grounds or pressure should mount on him to make him so. National Panthers Party Supremo Professor Bhim Singh while talking to Early Times said the case against Peerzada is more strong that that against G M Saroori, he should be sacked immediately. "After all his track record is very haunting, he took bribe from a sitting MLA earlier which was brought to the notice of the entire House, now a probe has find his son guilty, he should be shown exit" Bhim Singh said adding further that GM Saroori was also from the same congress, he was sacked when the charges levelled against him were not so severe. When asked to comment on the issue former Education Minister and Panthers Party leader Harshdev Singh said. " this is all they have been doing, such kind of practices are going on in the coalition government and this is only tip of the iceberg." State unit of BJP, however, chose to remain silent on the issue. When contacted Senior BJP leader and MLA Ashoke Khajuria avoided commenting saying that he has to consult his party before making any statement on this issue. State Secretary CPI(M), MY Tarigami also avoided any direct reply saying that "is mulk mein bohot kuch ho raha hai". Peoples Democratic Form Chairman and former minister Hakim Muhammad Yasin also avoided any direct reply to the question as whether Peerzada Sayed should quit as minister on moral grounds. However, what was interesting to note was that nobody from Peoples Democratic Party was ready to comment on the issue. |
