Will Omar act with propriety or invoke coalition Dharma to save Peerzada?
1/30/2012 11:59:39 PM
“Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken cognizance of the media report about state school education minister, Peerzada Mohammad Syed misusing his office to help his son pass the secondary school exam. The minister has been asked to see the chief minister to explain the facts. The state crime branch has been asked to complete an enquiry into the allegation and submit its report within seven days. Ant further action in the matter will depend on the crime branch report said an official press release. Will this be just another official cover up? Will Omar rise to the call of duty and act steadfast doing what he also knows is the only just course of action open to him? Seven days is too long a time to prove that the chief minister will not become part of any cover up in this shameful abuse of office.”

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 30: The question now is not whether Peerzada Syed resigns on moral grounds. The real question now is whether the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah drops him from the cabinet or not.
As in charge of the school education department and the minister who controls the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, Syed has brazenly and blatantly arranged to ensure that one of those very teachers posted to supervise the fair conduct of the examination writes part of an answer for the Urdu paper of the minister's son!
It was on the strength of five marks obtained for that portion of the answer written by a supervising teacher that the minister's son was declared successful in the secondary school examination of 2009. A facsimile of the answer paper carried by a section of the media clearly shows that the answer sheet is written in two hand writings. The answer sheet carrying role number 228211 for the secondary school exam 2009 belongs to the minister's son. A teacher was posted at the Al Ameen School examination centre in Humhama area of Srinagar city to facilitate the minister's son and he wrote a portion of the answer for the Urdu paper of the Boss's son.
A compliant was lodged by another teacher posted on duty at the centre, but despite an internal enquiry proving the allegation, the present chairman and then secretary of the Board declared the result.
It is shocking that despite directions from the Chief Minister's secretariat and the Raj Bhawan, the Board authorities had the cheek to declare the result putting all propriety and fair play to the wind.
The media exposure has not only put a question mark on the continuation of Peerzada Syed in the state cabinet, but raised the larger question of who is the custodian of our children's future? Is the future of children safe with the Board of School Education where exam papers are written by imposters and proxy candidates? It is very important to mention that the ten plus two exam also conducted by the same board is the entry level exams for all professions including engineering, medicine etc. How safe is the future of our society where today's imposters and worthless children of ministers could be our doctors and engineers tomorrow?
In not very remote past in 2010 another senior Congress leader and state works minister, G.M. Saroori had to resign from the state cabinet following media exposure that his daughter had passed a medical college entrance exam by arranging a proxy candidate to write the entrance exam papers for her.
Peerzada's scandal has put Omar Abdullah's credibility to test. Will he act with fortitude and show the door to the minister or again say this is the problem of the Congress high command and he cannot act against the tainted minister because the coalition Dharma prevents him from doing so?
