Khalsa Club qualifies for semis | 25th General Zorawar Singh Hockey Championship | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 31: Outplaying Young Star Club by four goals to nil, Khalsa Club today qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing General Zorawar Singh Hockey Tournament, organised by Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakhu Stadium, here. Khalsa Club had an easy going after the side dominated the game throughout. Leading by one goal in the first half, Khalsa Club struck thrice on the opponent goal post after drinks break to make it a convincing 4-0 win. Ravneet Singh sounded the board for first goal in 12th minute while Sartaj Singh contributed two goals netting the ball in 40th and 59th minute. Ranjit Singh also scored one goal in 50th minute of the match. Meanwhile, in a pre-quarterfinal match, Singh Club Bandhurakh blanked Young Star Blue making it 6-0. Leading by three goals in the first half, Singh Club continued their attacking play to make it a big win. Young Agamdeep played brilliant game as right out position successfully converting two moves into back to back goals in 50th and 57th minute. Earlier, Jagmeet Singh (5th), Gurpreet (10th, 35th) and Manjeet Singh (18th) contributed to the team's total. Today's matches were officiated by Satbir Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh and Vijay Vaid as umpires. FIXTURE: Hiranagar Club shall take on Cantonment Star in the quarterfinals at 3 pm tomorrow. |
