| UJC condemns attack on Mirwaiz’s house | | Hizb supports Geelani call for strike on Jan.17 | | Srinagar, January 16 The United Jihad Council has strongly condemned attack on the residence of Mirwaiz Molvi Umer Farooq, while Hizb-ul-Mujahideen has announced support for December 17 call for a total shut down announced by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference. In a statement faxed to KNS, United Jihad Council Spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain said the Indian intelligence agencies are behind the grenade attack carried out at the residence of Mirwaiz Molvi Umer Farooq. Ruling out the involvement of Jihad Council in the attack, the spokesman call for unity the time, when the ongoing resistance movement is passing through its decisive phase. Meanwhile Hizb-ul-Mujahideen spokesman, Ehsan Ellahi has in a statement faxed to KNS announced his support to Geelani’s call for shut down against proposed visit of Hurriyat doves to Islamabad on January 17. He also said “people visiting Delhi Darbar are engaged in a futile dialogue process and damage the international recognition granted to Jammu & Kashmir state. They are also trying to cover up the excesses perpetuated on the people of the state”. He called upon the people to respond overwhelmingly to Geelani’s call for strike on January 17.
