Come forward to protect vast forest cover: Babu Singh | | | Early Times Report KATHUA , Jan 31 : The founder of Nature-Mankind friendly global movement and former power minister of Jammu and Kashmir Babu Singh urged the people and famer community to come forward in order to protect the vast forest cover which is being damaged by few wood traders with the collaboration of administration and industrialists. He also urged that Constitutional "Right to Work" should be incorporated in the constitution in order to give the permanent and handsome economic security to the unemployed. He expressed his serious concerns over ruthless deforestation by illegal cutting of immature plants and trees by some greedy wood traders. The destruction of forest cover and emission of green house gases has damaged and degraded the natural environment of "Planet Earth", which have created a dangerous challenge of Global Warming/Climate Change. He further said that the forest cover is the second largest source of fresh oxygen after the oceans. He said the forest cover of Kathua should not be handed over only to the forest department. It must also be looked upon by the general people. In this context the state Government should fix the financial incentives for the farmers and unemployed youth by constituting local village level forest protection and reforestation management committees. He appealed to general masses, farmers and youth on behalf of Nature-Mankind Friendly Global Movement to actively participate in our plantation drive and reforestation campaign. |
