PDP accuses Govt of inaction | Yosuf killing case | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 31: Accusing the state government of creating hurdles in investigation of Syed Yusuf killing, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today expressed shock over inaction of the concerned in the high profile killing. PDP spokesman Sardar Rangil Singh said that the government has done nothing except announcing a one member enquiry commission to probe the killing. Singh observed and added that impartial inquiry was not possible without handing over the case to an independent investigating agency. He said that credibility of the state government was at lowest ebb after mysterious killing of Sayeed Yosuf Shah. He demanded hand over of investigation to an impartial agency. "Vital evidence has already been. The case merits a thorough probe to restore peoples' faith in the system", he said. Taking a dig at NC led coalition regime for its failure to check corruption, Singh also demanded an independent investigating agency for that State Accountability Commission (SAC) which was constituted during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He said the coalition regime was not ready to make the SAC functional because during the last three years corruption had been legalized in the state. "Without equipping SAC with investigating agency, it is not possible to conduct impartial inquiry into the corruption complaints lodged with the Commission", he said. Ridiculing government's claim of empowering Panchayats, Rangil regretted that nothing had been done other than issuing statements. "I failed to understand why government is hesitating to empower Panchayats like other parts of the country", he said and added that there was no logic to bring a bill to identify powers of legislators. He said that instead of mixing this issue with the powers of legislators, the government should delegate powers to the Panchayats like other parts of the country. |
