Model academy organizes environment activities | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 31: In collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund three activities on environment issues were conducted by Model Academy in continuation with the National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) under guidelines of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India. Firstly, a Botanical Garden was created by planting about 150 plants in the campus of Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET). Present on the Occasion were Ankur Gupta Joint Director MIET, Maj. Gen. S.K. Sharma (Retd) principal and Poonam Gupta Project Incharge. Speaking on the occasion, Ankur Gupta interacted with the students and explained to them the importance of creating the Botanical Garden. S.K. Sharma also stressed upon the student to love trees and save the environment. A painting competition on save the environment was also organized on 30th January 2012, in which more than 50 students from the school wing participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Speaking on the occasion Rupa Gupta, principal made the students aware about the utility of Environment conservation and the need to preserve it. Thirdly, a group of 35 students of the school wing visited sacred grooves, at Bantalab. During the visit the students were made aware of the eco-friendly things in nature and about various local species of vegetation. By showing them the plenty of trees, they were also encouraged to grow more trees. Later, the students had an interactive session with the local people in which they were made aware of the historic importance of the place. The students also collected information about the preservation of natural resources for securing an eco-friendly future. The students also enjoyed the ancient pond and temples in the area. |
