SaMaPa Aalap Festival 2012 resonates at Khour, Rajouri and Jammu

Jammu, Jan 31: The 7th SaMaPa Aalap Festival reached out to thousands at Khour, Rajouri and other venues in Jammu.
SaMaPa, the Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts, is presenting the 7th Annual 'SaMaPa Aalap Festival' in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Deptt. of J&K Tourism, Jammu.
The second day of the festival featured Sufi vocal by the young Sufi songstress Ragini Rainu and Santoor recital by Santoor maestro and composer Abhay Rustum Sopori. Abhay and Ragini performed in a special concert at Higher Secondary School, Khour witnessed by around 20,000 people comprising of thousands of young students, local villagers and residents and other neighbouring parts.
Tara Chand Deputy CM of J&K was the Chief Guest at the occasion.
Bhajan Sopori was also present at the occasion that was honored by Dy CM with a bouquet and Memento in recognition of his tremendous contribution. The grand presentation was followed by another concert at the TRT Migrant Camp, Muthi on the second day of the S?M?P? Aalap Festival, where Abhay focused the need to attach music as a mainstream activity to every youth of the State.
The concert was attended by a large number of music lovers.
The third day saw both Ragini Rainu and Abhay Rustum Sopori resonating Rajouri with Sufi and classical music.
Abhay Rustum Sopori, who is credited for creating a new generation of music connoisseurs across the country bringing more recognition to the art and culture of the State of J&K at national and international level, presented Raga Basant Mukhari making the entire audience sing with him the notes of the Raga and the composition "Oothat Jiya".
Sanjeev Gupta, Programme Officer, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Rajouri presented the vote of thanks. Rima Bhargawa conducted the procedures of the concert.
Abhay said that the concerts at the far flung areas are part of the SaMaPa's vision.
He said that the students have been so responsive that S?M?P? will keep always keep a session there every year.
He thanked the J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages for coordinating the function at Rajouri together with DPS, Rajouri.
The concert was very well received by all and the young students were moved by the performance.
