| Puri, Behal condemn grenade attack on Umar’s residence | | | JAMMU |JAN 16 Condemning the armed attack on the house of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Convenor People’s Union for Civil Liberties Balraj Puri has asked the separatist leaders to realize the need for finding ways other than violence before further damage was done to the cause of Kashmir and to the well being of the people. In a press statement issued here today, Puri said that every violent movement in Kashmir had started eating its own children adding that the process started at the very beginning with the killing of Umar Farooq’s father Mirwaz Mohammed Farooq. Ever since it took toll of prominent separatist leaders like Abdul Ghani Lone, Dr Guru, Maulvi Mushtaq, Hissam- ud-Din and many others, Puri recalled. In the meantime Devinder Singh Behal leader of Awami Action Committee, a unit of Hurriyat Conference, while condemning the grenade attack at the residence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that some people do not want to carry forward the ongoing peace process adding that such small incidents would not deter them to participate in Indo-Pak peace talks. In a statement, Behal has impressed upon both the countries to continue this peace process adding that the ‘voice of Jammu and Kashmir is the voice of Mirwaiz’. ‘Maintaining that the sacrifices of the people would not go in vain’, Behal said that ‘the people of Jammu have taken a strong notice of the grenade attack on the house Hurriyat leader’.
