Tainted' Peerzada chairs Literacy Mission meet! | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JAN 31: A day after the Chief Minister sought explanation from the education Minister for `facilitating' copying of his son in matriculation examination, Peerzada chaired the prestigious first meeting of Sate Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA) and reviewed the implementation of the prestigious Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM). Peerzada is in trouble for facilitating his son's copying in matriculation examination held two years ago. A detailed report with the image of his Urdu answer paper was published by a local English daily Sunday. Taking strong not of the irregularity, the Chief Minister has sought an explanation from Peerzada. A rumor in the summer capital suggested that Peerzada is likely to resign Tuesday. According to the news report, Peerzada had deputed a senior official of the Board of School Education (BOSE) in the examination hall to help his son. A vigilance team found the minister's son copying from material allegedly supplied by the official. The vigilance team recommended registration of `unfair' means case. However, the then secretary BOSE restrained the examiners from registering a case. "It is ironical. A person who facilitates copying of his son chairs the literacy Mission Authority meet", said a Srinagar based educationist. |
