| Mir elected president of scribes’ body | | | Rajouri|Jan 16 Shafiq Mir correspondent ‘Greater Kashmir' was unanimously elected president of Rajouri press persons council at an impressive function organized at Dak Bunglow here today. More than 30 media persons, working for various print and electronic organizations, attended the function, which was presided over by a noted educationist and editor of a weekly Hill Post A K Badyal Speaking on the occasion, Tazeeem Dar managing director of a local television news channel appreciated the contribution of Shafiq Mir as journalist and said that he was instrumental in introducing this border region at national level through his write ups and investigative stories. He said after long deliberations, the organization felt that Shafiq Mir was the only deserving choice of all media persons for the post of president. A K Badyal also appreciated the contribution of Mir in highlighting the miseries and problems of the common masses. He said Mir has worked fearlessly while reporting from this border region adding that he has also been highlighting the exploitation of the poor masses at the hand of landlords and other goons in the society. Later, Shafiq Mir thanked all the media persons for reposing their faith in him and assured that he will honestly work to safeguard the rights of the media persons and will always fight for their interests. Others who were elected for the organization included Avinash Jasyal Vive President, Gagan Kholi General Secretary,. Tazim Malik Organizing Secretary, Pardeep Sharma Cashier, and Tazeem Dar (Advocate) as legal advisor. Jabaar Chowdhary and Atul Gupta were included in the organization as executive members while A K Badyal senior journalist was unanimously elected as chief patron of the new organization.
