PDD daily wagers threaten strike, dharna | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Feb 1: Daily wage earners of Power development Department (PDD) who are yet to be regularized have threatened to resort to protests and road blocks if their demands are not met at the earliest. In a handout issued here today, District General Secretary of the union Susheel Sharma has said that daily wagers would leave no stone unturned in getting their demands redressed. He informed that nature-mankind friendly global movement, which is headed by ex-Power Minister Babu Singh, has extended support to the protest programme of the PDD daily wagers. Singh has urged the NC-Congress coalition government to redress genuine grievances of PDD daily wagers. He said that these daily wagers are back bone of PDD and play their key role to provide the electricity services at the door steps of people of the state. He said that these daily wagers have been working on just Rs 3300 to 4000 as monthly salary which is the nothing more than their mockery and majority of daily wagers have attained overage and more than 7- years. District president of JKPDTU Randeep Singh Jasrotia and General Secretary Supinder Singh said that daily wagers are running PDD department and providing electricity at the door steps of the people of the Jammu and Kashmir. They further said that more than 100 daily wagers have lost their lives while around 185 their but the government is still unmoved. |
