| Abhinandan scores hat-trick as semis lineup drawn in Gen Zorawar hockey | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 1: With the entry of Hiranagar Club in the last four stage, semifinals lineup has been drawn in the ongoing 25th General Zorawar Singh Hockey Tournament, being organised by Zorawar Hockey Club, Jammu under the aegis of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here today.
Other three teams which have made it to the semifinals are Kathua Hockey Club, Khalsa Club and Singh Club Bandhurak. Now, in the first semi-finals, scheduled for tomorrow at 3 pm, Kathua Club shall take on Singh Club Bandhurakh. The second semifinals shall be played between Khalsa Club and Hiranagar Club on February three.
In the last quarterfinal of the tournament, played today, Hiranagar Club registered a big 5-1 win over Cantt Star Satwari, courtesy hat trick from young Abhinandan.
Earlier, Hiranagar took the first lead with Vivek Sharma sounding the board in the 18th minute but only to find equalizer two minutes later in 20th through Vishal. Leveled at 1-1 at the end of first half, it was Abhinandan, who added three consecutive goals to complete his hat trick . Abhinandan not only distinguished himself but also guided his side take an invincible 4-1 lead striking in the 35th, 40th and 57th minute of the match. Avinash also scored a goal in the last 59th minute in this 60-minute quarterfinal.
Today's match was officiated by Vijay Vaid, Joginder Singh, Dalbir Mehta and G S Bakshi.
Kathua Hockey Club shall take on Singh Club Bandhurakh in the first semifinal at 3 pm tomorrow. |
