| Residents stage protest against hike in 'water tariff' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 1: Residents of Jammu (West) assembly constituency led by Sunil Dimple staged protest demonstration against increased 'water rent' and restrictions imposed on protests. The protestors also took out a symbolic funeral procession "Shav Yatra" and burnt effigies of PHE Regulatory Commission.
Addressing the Protestants Sunil Dimple president Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) it is violation of the human rights and criticized the increase of water rent said this is "Jazia" on the Water. Dimple and other speakers the PHE Minister not to harass the innocent consumers for depositing this huge tariff as the PHE Staff is forcing the poor people to deposit or their connections will be disconnected.
They further held chief minister Omar Abdullah responsible who is power minister for the complete failure to provide undisrupted power supply. They also cautioned of intensifying the Jan Andolan against the PDD & PHE ministries for discrimination with the Jammu Region and for anti Jammu people policies. |
