| Vigilance raids DFO Pir Panjal office, seizes records | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 1: The Vigilance Organization today raided the office of DFO Pir Panjal and seized the vital records pertaining to alleged embezzlement of timber in the division, it is learnt.
A three-member Vigilance team led by a senior inspector has taken possession of the records in the division after complaints of irregularities committed by the DFO Pir Panjal, Ghulam Hassan Bhat came to fore.
"The Vigilance team is scheduled to submit their report within a day or two to the higher authorities after which arrest of the DFO is expected as he is involved in gross embezzlements in the division," sources added.
When contacted the DFO Bhat confirmed that Vigilance team has been camping in his office from the last three days. "They are investigating some complaints. But I don't know what the complaints are," he added. The sources say Bhat has fraudulently sold thousands of cft of timber from OB Post of the division in the last two years. "The seized timber being dumped in the Post has been sold by the DFO on fake sanctions. He allotted more than 3000 cft of this timber to one of his relatives on fake sanctions last year," they added. |
