| World Wetland Day observed at Mansar | | | JAMMU, Feb 2: To commemorate World Wetland Day today, the Department of Environment & Remote Sensing organised a rally of school children and locals at Mansar.
Conservator of Forests, Regional Director Department of Environment and Remote Sensing Jammu, V K Raina was the chief guest on the occasion and Principal of GHSS Mansar, Vinod Gupta was guest of honour. More than six hundred school children of GHSS Mansar, GMS Channi, GPS Channi, GGPS Channi, GMS Padyal, GGMS Mansar, Atman Presentation Convent Manwal, Indira Memorial Academy Mansar and Shishu Shiksha Niketan Mansar participated in the rally.
They were holding placards and banners in support of conservation and non-pollution of wetlands.
The main function was held in the Government Higher Secondary School Mansar, the children expressed their views on the topic "How can tourists contribute to local economics, conservation goals, education and raise awareness about the benefits of wetlands" in the symposium.
Painting and slogan writing competitions on the theme wetland and tourism were also held in which large number of students participated. |
