Symposium on 'Bioinformatics challenges in post generic era' held | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 2: The inaugural function of the National Symposium on Bioinformatics: Challenges in the post genomic era was held in General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. Minister for science and technology Jenab Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi was the chief guest of the function. Praising the University of Jammu for their achievements in the field of science and technology he stressed upon the need for advancement in the field and also for promoting bioinformatics he called for collaborations between all the educational institutes with the JKDST and promised financial assistance. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Bamzai, Vice chancellor SMVDU, Katra. He sansitzed the Gathering about challenges in human complex, diseases in Post Genomics era and provided an indepth analysis of Molecular mechanisms of diseases such as Leprosy and Cancer. The presidential address was delivered by Professor R D Sharma, DAA, JU. Professor V Verma coordinator, SIF and Director SBT SMVDU, Katra delivered vote of thanks. The symposium comprised of one plenary section and three technical sessions, wherein eleven distinguished speakers from the Premier institute of the world and India provided informational course on burning issues and challenges in the Post Gnomic Era. The symposium was the first segment of the national BIF coordinators meet which will be held in SMVDU tomorrow. The symposium was attended by taskforce members and Bioinformatics coordinators of BIF facilities nationwide and distinguished scientists. The proceeding was the inaugural functions technical session were conducted by Subika Jamwal and Shelly Sehgal Gupta. |
