Mandeep, Karanveer shine as Kathua Club storms into final | 25th General Zorawar Singh Hockey Championship | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 2: Ace striker Mandeep Singh and Karanveer Singh continued their sublime touch and netted two splendid two field goals each to help their team to script a (4-0) win over Singh Club Bandhurakh and storm into the finals of the ongoing 25th General Zorawar Singh Hockey Championship, being organised by Zorawar Club, Jammu under the aegis of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here. Earlier, Mandeep gave an early lead to his side by scoring a fabulous field goal in the 5th minute of the match, which he followed with another goal in 14th minute. Then Karanveer Singh netted another goal in 28th minute of the match to take his side into the driver's seat. Karanveer continued his brilliance and with his magic touch improved the lead by scoring another goal in the 47th minute and his side finally won the match by four goals to nil (4-0). Kathua Club got seven penalty corners against Singh Clubs three, but none of the sides could manage to score any goal on penalty corners. The match was officiated by Joginder Singh, Dalbir Mehta, Ranbir Singh and GS Bakshi and Vijay Vaid. Hiranagar Club shall take on Khalsa Club in second semifinal at 3pm tomorrow. |
